Introduction to Thrust Ball Bearings
Thrust ball bearings are designed to withstand thrust loads during high-speed operation, and are composed of washer-shaped ferrules with ball rolling grooves. Because the ring is in the shape of a cushion, thrust ball bearings are divided into two types: flat base cushion type and self-aligning spherical cushion type. In addition, this kind of bearing can bear an axial load, but cannot bear a radial load.

composition
Thrust ball bearing composition: Thrust ball bearing consists of three parts: seat ring, shaft ring, and steel ball cage assembly. The shaft ring matched with the shaft is called the shaft ring, and the seat ring matched with the housing.
species:
According to the force, it is divided into one-way thrust ball bearings and two-way thrust ball bearings.
One-way thrust ball bearings can bear one-way axial load. Two-way thrust ball bearings can bear a two-way axial load, in which the shaft ring and the shaft are matched. The mounting surface of the seat ring is a spherical bearing with self-aligning performance, which can reduce the influence of installation errors. Thrust ball bearings cannot bear radial load, and the limit speed is low.
Features
1. Available in one-way and two-way types
2. In order to allow for installation errors, whether it is one-way or two-way, you can choose the spherical self-aligning spherical seat cushion type or the spherical seat ring type. 3. High-quality steel-Ultra-clean steel that can extend the life of the bearing by up to 80% 4. High-grade grease technology-NSK's lubricant technology can extend the life of the grease and improve the performance of the bearing 5. High-grade steel ball- Quiet and smooth during high-speed rotation 6. Using the ferrule in the option, installation errors can be tolerated.
use
The purpose of thrust ball bearings: only suitable for parts that bear one side of the axial load and low speed, such as crane hooks, vertical water pumps, vertical centrifuges, jacks, low-speed reducers, etc. The shaft ring, seat ring, and rolling element of the bearing are separated and can be assembled and disassembled separately.
Assembly
There are two key points in the assembly of thrust ball bearings. One is the control of the pressing quality of the cage and the steel ball, and the other is the control of the nominal height T after the bearing is assembled. In addition, since the shaft ring and seat ring can be separated, a management problem arises. It is to prevent the mixing of imported bearing parts. M-type stamping cage uses a flange assembly die. After pressing, the steel ball is required to rotate flexibly in the pocket, but it cannot fall off from the pocket, and the amount of movement of the steel ball in the pocket should be checked by technical regulations. If the solid cage is embossed too deeply, the steel ball will have a small amount of movement, and the connection between the embossed part and the cage is too small and the strength is insufficient, which is prone to block loss, causing the cage to be scrapped. There is very little difference between the inner diameter of the small thrust ball bearing race and the shaft ring, and there is no obvious difference between the two sets. In order to prevent the phenomenon of mixed sets, the assembled set of bearings found that both of them are seat rings or both shaft rings. This requires certain measures. Usually, auxiliary tooling is used to distinguish the ring and seat ring when fitting, or the inner diameter plug gauge is used to check the inner diameter size before the nominal height is sampled. In order to check the inner diameter, place the seat ring underneath and the shaft ring on top. If the inner diameter of the seat ring has obvious quenching heating oxidation color or has not been ground, there is no need to check the inner diameter size. The difference between the shaft ring and the seat ring can be clearly seen, and it is not easy to mix sleeves. After the thrust ball bearing is assembled, the nominal height T needs to be measured to confirm whether it is qualified. When measuring, use a height block or standard part to calibrate and measure the load. The bearing needs to rotate dozens of times, and the minimum height must be reached. To
When the thrust ball bearing runs at high speed, the contact angle between the steel ball and the radial plane of the raceway will be affected by centrifugal force, which will cause the steel ball to slide relative to the raceway. Adhesive wear caused by this sliding can damage the bearing. In order to prevent this kind of damage, the minimum load on the thrust ball bearing must be ensured, see Formula 1 or Formula 2, whichever is greater.
Formula 1: Famin=K·n*n
Formula 2: Famin=Coa/1000
Famin: minimum axial load (N)
K: minimum axial load factor
n: rotation speed (per minute)
Coa: Basic static load rating (N)
One-way thrust ball bearings can only bear loads in one direction. If they bear loads in two directions, two-way thrust ball bearings must be used. Thrust ball bearings must apply a minimum load or preload. When the shaft is vertical, the weight of the shaft usually exceeds the minimum load. At this time, due to the influence of the axial external load in the opposite direction, the applied load may be reduced.
