The spline shaft's processing procedure and how the machine tool is used:
1. Rotary cutting technique: To process in accordance with the generation method, the spline hob is employed in the gear hobbing machine or the spline shaft milling machine. This technique is ideal for mass manufacturing because of its great precision and productivity.
2. Milling procedure: In the universal milling machine, the inter-tooth profile is directly machined using a specific forming tool, and the teeth are milled one at a time by the indexing head.
If this is not possible, two milling cutters can be utilized. After milling the teeth, reduce the bottom diameter somewhat on the side with a disc cutter.
The milling method, which has poor productivity and accuracy, is typically employed in small batch manufacturing for outer diameter centering and rough machining of spline shafts prior to quenching.
3. For high-precision machining of hardened spline shafts or spline shafts, particularly for inner diameter centering, grind the spline tooth side and bottom diameter with a forming grinding wheel on a spline shaft grinder.
