The same is true for worm gear grinding, where the grinding wheel can be ceramic or CBN but has a diameter of only 40mm. This makes it handy for close-to-the-shoulder gear grinding. Non-involute profiles such as rotors, splines, special worms, and so on can be ground in this manner.
