Generally speaking, the big gear and the small gear are measured from the surface. First of all, judging from the size of the gear, the most obvious size is its diameter, which should be the diameter of its addendum circle. A gear with a relatively larger tip diameter is called a large gear.

Cast gear

Most gears are made by cutting with milling machines and rolling machines. However, on some machines with low precision requirements, cast gears are often used, because cast gears have better wear resistance than milling and hobbing, and the cost is low. The shape and casting process of the cast tooth gear, according to the number of castings, can adopt several different modeling methods

How to install the big gear

Big gears are often made into two parts and are firmly connected with bolts for easy transportation, installation and replacement.

The big gear is generally installed in the kiln or near the kiln end. This is to reduce the torque of the cylinder, reduce the thermal effect of the cylinder on the transmission, and reduce the dust infiltration at both ends. The suitable distance between the big gear and the wheel belt is about 3 meters. Because it is close to the wheel belt cylinder, it is not easy to bend, so it is easy to ensure the correct meshing of the large and small gears. If the distance is too small, it is not convenient for installation and maintenance.

There are three ways to install the big gear on the cylinder: tangential and longitudinal spring plate installation, and rigid connection with the cylinder.

Tangential spring plate installation

The installation of the tangent spring plate is generally to use 10 to 12 elastic steel plates with a thickness of 20 to 30 mm, one end is riveted in the tangential direction of the cylinder, and the other end is fixed on the flange of the gear with screws, and they are arranged at equal distances from each other. . The advantage of this installation is that it has a certain degree of flexibility, which is beneficial to the durability of the kiln lining and the meshing quality of the large and small gears. The disadvantage is that it is difficult to install. When one side of the large gear tooth is worn, the surface cannot be adjusted and used. Because the inner surface of the gear has a flange, it is not easy to manufacture. As the diameter of the kiln body increases, it becomes more prominent. Therefore, it is generally used in small and medium kilns.

Longitudinal spring plate installation

The big gear is bolted to 8-15 spring plates with arcs parallel to the axis of the kiln body. The spring plate and several steel plates are made up of high cushions, which are fixed on the cylinder with rivets. The distance between the high cushions It is 1.4~1.8 meters.

Compared with the tangential spring plate installation, this installation method has the advantages of simple manufacturing, easy installation, and the large gear can be adjusted for use. However, the degree of elasticity is less when transmitting power.

Rigid connection between big gear and cylinder

The big gear is connected to the cylinder through a flange. This structure makes it easy to manufacture and install the big gear, but because it is a rigid connection, it loses the advantages of the above-mentioned elastic connection. Therefore, it can generally be seen in small old kilns.

When installing, make sure that the big gear is well aligned with the simplification, the pinion shaft is accurately parallel to the centerline of the cylinder, and the mounting height of the supporting wheel near the big gear should be very accurate, which should meet the design requirements. Otherwise, the uniformity and continuity of meshing of large and small gears will be destroyed, causing vibration. It can cause premature damage to the parts of the transmission device, and easily cause the fire bricks in the kiln to fall off, reducing the operation rate of the kiln.

In order to reduce the dust falling on the large and small gears, and to prevent the lubricating oil on the large gears from being thrown on the concrete foundation, the large and small gears should be covered with an outer cover welded by steel plates.

When the large gear is well maintained, it can be used for 15-25 years.
