The purpose of tooth surface quenching
The purpose of quenching is to transform the supercooled austenite into martensite or bainite to obtain a martensite or bainite structure and then temper it with different temperatures to greatly improve the rigidity, hardness, and wear resistance of the steel Performance, fatigue strength, and toughness, etc., so as to meet the different requirements of various mechanical parts and tools. It can also be quenched to meet the ferromagnetic, corrosion resistance, and other special physical and chemical properties of certain special steels.
The difference between the two quenching methods
1, flame surface quenching
The principle is a surface heat treatment method in which the flame generated when the gas fuel is burned heats the surface of the workpiece to the quenching temperature, followed by rapid cooling. The surface layer of the quenched gear is martensite, and the core is still the original structure, so the surface layer and the core after quenching have different properties. Flame quenching can obtain a high hardness surface and favorable internal stress distribution, and improve the wear resistance and fatigue strength of the workpiece.
2, high-frequency surface hardening
The surface hardness of the gear is higher than that of flame quenching, which can effectively improve the fatigue resistance of the gear.
It can be seen that the effects of the two quenching methods are still relatively large. For some gears that require high hardness and high wear resistance, it is recommended to choose high-frequency surface quenching.
