Milling is then used to create the tooth profile, initially shaping the ring gear's tooth structure. Drilling is also used to create auxiliary holes, such as connection holes and locating holes, in preparation for subsequent assembly.
This manufacturing process requires tempering heat treatment, which involves quenching and high-temperature tempering to improve the material's overall mechanical properties and enhance the ring gear's strength and toughness. After basic machining is complete, the tooth surfaces are precision ground to eliminate milling errors, improve tooth surface finish and meshing accuracy, and ensure transmission stability.
Finally, the sections are precisely aligned through locating holes and bolted together using the connection holes. After assembly, the overall roundness, coaxiality, and pitch deviation are inspected to ensure the large ring gear meets overall operational requirements.
