1) The surface of the tyre has a network crack and a large peeling defect, which causes the tire tyre to be exposed to fatigue during the early period.

We know that during the operation of the rotary kiln, the surface of the tyre is actually subjected to a dynamic load of one cycle change. In the position of 3-4 mm and 5-7 mm in the skin layer of the tyre, there are alternating loads and pulsating loads respectively. The microcracks generated underneath are parallel or at an angle of 45 degrees with the contact stress. With the crack propagation and other external bending moments, the crack develops further toward the epidermis and depth, and even penetrates and is brittle, causing surface peeling damage.

The main reason for the early contact fatigue cracking of the skin of the rotary kiln wheel is that after the wheel is put into operation, the surface wear of the high-hardness segregation zone is smaller than that of the normal zone, causing the surface of the zone to bulge, resulting in stress concentration. Under the action, there are non-metallic debris in the surface of the tyre and defects such as cast sand holes. Micro-cracks are formed first. The external conditions such as infiltration of corrosive medium (cooling water), kiln turbulence, wheel temperature difference, etc. will accelerate the tyre. Cracking.

2) The tyre has a low temperature brittle fracture. Generally, the material of the wheel tyre is below 0 degrees, the impact value is very low, and there is almost no plastic deformation ability. Therefore, at low temperatures, less stress is sufficient to cause brittle fracture of the tyre.

The wheel tyre belongs to a large steel casting, and inevitably there are casting defects such as sand holes, slag inclusions, and inclusions. According to the survey, most of the origin of the crack inside the wheel has sand holes and slag. Under normal circumstances, the kiln is overhauled, the temperature of the kiln is reduced from 150-300 °C to atmospheric temperature, and the whole kiln body will be shortened, resulting in uneven internal stress of the wheel tyre, and the action points of the tyre and the tug change. The sudden start of the cold kiln causes brittle fracture of the tyre that is in a low temperature brittle state. The low temperature brittle fracture of the wheel occurs mostly in winter and spring.

The rotary kiln tyre is also called the rolling ring.
