Technical Requirements for Hoist Friction Liners

Mar 26, 2018

The friction pad is a key component on a friction lifter and is mainly used to lift the power transmission between the machine friction wheel and the wire rope. The friction between the liner and the wire rope constitutes a dual friction, and the friction coefficient directly affects the performance and safety of the hoist.

Technical requirements for frictional lifter pad:

    1. The allowable value of friction coefficient should not be lower than the value of the required friction coefficient of the lifting system using the friction pad, but the minimum value should not be lower than 0.20.

2. The coefficient of friction should be able to maintain a stable or upward trend with the increase in the relative sliding speed of the friction lining and the wire rope, so as to ensure that the sliding speed converges when there is an abnormal slip caused by external friction factors.

3. The friction lining should have good thermal characterization. Under normal operating conditions, when the abnormal sliding caused by accidental factors causes the temperature of the surface of the groove of the friction liner to rise, it should not melt.

4. The friction pad should be able to withstand the working pressure of 3.0MPa.

5. The internal structure of the friction liner should be uniform and there should be no defects such as pores, inclusions, and interlayers.

6. Friction pad should be resistant to oil, water, long-term exposure to oil and water without decomposition, no change in performance.

7. Friction pad should not contain substances that pollute the environment, harmful to human health and damage the wire rope.

8. Friction liner material should be flame retardant, with good cutting performance.
