There are four different types of bevel gear designs
In the gear manufacturing process, the best engineering design will always eliminate excessive complexity. Practical applications, on the other hand, necessitate a certain level of intricacy, which is where Angle gears come in. Bevel gears are a common form of gear used in applications requiring equal torque and force at any angle. They are key components in the gearbox because of their function. Furthermore, bevel gears may be classified into four different categories.
The four varieties of standard bevel gear used in a wide range of equipment are listed below.
Straight
Straight bevel gears feature teeth that taper towards their vertices and have an inclined surface. Because of its conical form and curved teeth, it fits helical gears as smoothly as possible. Spur gears and helical shafts frequently interact with bevel gears.
Zerol
These bevel gears are nearly identical to standard bevel gears, with the exception that they feature curved teeth with ends that are in the same plane as the gear shaft. Furthermore, the central half of each tooth wraps in a circular pattern around the whole gear. As a result, they can be considered a form of spiral bevel gear with a zero spiral angle.
Hypoid
There is no conical pitch surface on the hypoid. The manufacturer can set the pinion below or above the gear's center using this functionality. As a result, the hypoid meshes with other gears more smoothly, has a bigger pinion diameter, and lasts longer than equivalent gears. Because of these features, automakers frequently include them into gearbox designs.
Miter gear
The gear shafts are perpendicular to one other in these particular bevel gear setups. The gear is made up of two bevel gears with the same number of teeth and a tapered pitch surface that allows them to revolve in an exact 1:1 ratio vertically.
