A custom crane rope drum machining project undertaken by our company for a European client is currently progressing steadily in the workshop, with operations now entering the precision milling stage for the rope groove tracks. As a core load-bearing component of the crane's hoisting mechanism, the rope drum's track precision directly determines the steel wire rope's spooling performance, thereby impacting both operational safety and the rope's service life; consequently, the European client enforces rigorous standards regarding groove profiles, surface roughness, and dimensional tolerances.
On the shop floor, the technical team is utilizing CNC milling equipment to execute groove milling in strict accordance with the client's specifications. They are monitoring groove pitch, depth, and surface profile accuracy in real-time while strictly controlling for machining-induced deformation. Having already completed the inspection of incoming forgings, rough machining, and heat treatment, the team is now carrying out the rope groove milling-a critical step in shaping the finished product.
This order represents another milestone in our company's ongoing efforts to cultivate the European heavy industry supply market. Moving forward, the workshop will maintain rigorous process inspections; following the milling stage, procedures such as flaw detection and surface treatment will be performed to ensure the product meets international standards for lifting equipment and is delivered to the client on schedule.
