
Recently, in the production workshop of Luoyang Yujie, a T160 large CNC floor type boring machine was operating with precision, processing the core transmission component of the large-diameter herringbone gear customized for an offshore drilling platform project. This machining process closely adhered to the client's stringent requirements for high salt spray, heavy loads, and fatigue resistance in marine environments. An innovative process solution was adopted, combining a floor-type boring machine with a high-precision rotary table, successfully achieving efficient and precise manufacturing of marine-grade gear components.
As a key component of the lifting or rotating system of an offshore drilling platform, the herringbone gear must meet international marine engineering standards such as API and DNV, demanding extremely high requirements for tooth profile accuracy, meshing stability, and corrosion resistance. The Luoyang Yujie technical team, leveraging the multi-axis linkage advantages of the rotary table and boring machine, completed the integrated roughing and finishing milling of the continuous tooth surface without undercut, effectively controlling thermal deformation and cutting vibration, ensuring tooth surface accuracy down to the micron level. The entire processing was carried out in strict accordance with marine engineering standards, from raw material flaw detection and hardness testing to real-time precision monitoring during processing and corrosion pretreatment, establishing a comprehensive quality control system.
The successful completion of this task not only validated Luoyang Yujie's core strength in the processing of large-scale non-standard marine engineering gear parts, but also accumulated valuable experience for customized services of core components for high-end marine engineering equipment.
