A CNC floor drilling machine, also known as a floor‑mounted CNC plate drilling machine, is a fully automatic and high-precision numerical control equipment designed for heavy-duty plate processing. Different from small bench drilling machines, it adopts a heavy-duty floor-fixed rigid bed structure with excellent stability.
It is specially used for batch drilling, countersinking, chamfering and deep hole processing of thick steel plates, steel structure connecting plates, flanges, heat exchanger tube sheets and other heavy workpieces. Controlled by a CNC system, the machine requires no manual marking or positioning. The 3-axis servo closed-loop control system ensures ultra-high processing accuracy, effectively solving the defects of large errors, low efficiency and poor hole consistency in traditional manual drilling. It is widely applied in steel structure, bridge, wind power, pressure vessel and machinery manufacturing industries.
Core Machine Components
High-rigidity Floor Bed: Integrated heavy cast iron base with stress relief treatment, which effectively suppresses drilling vibration, avoids long-term deformation and ensures stable processing accuracy.
3-Axis Servo Drive System: X, Y, Z axes equipped with precision ball screws and linear guides, featuring fast response and high positioning accuracy to realize precise millimeter-level movement.
High-speed Drilling Spindle Unit: Stepless speed regulation servo spindle compatible with twist drills, gun drills and other tools. It supports standard and deep hole drilling, with a high-pressure internal cooling structure for efficient heat dissipation and chip removal.
CNC Control System: The core control unit that parses G-code generated by CAD/CAM software, and accurately sets all processing parameters including hole coordinates, spindle speed, feed rate and drilling depth.
Auxiliary Systems: Equipped with automatic hydraulic clamping device, high-pressure cooling system and automatic chip removal system, realizing stable workpiece fixing, processing cooling and automatic scrap cleaning for full-process automatic operation.

Working Principle & Full Operation Process
The core working logic of the CNC floor drilling machine is: digital programming → automatic positioning → precise cutting → automatic cyclic processing. The whole process is closed-loop controlled by the CNC system without manual intervention in core procedures, which is divided into 5 steps:
Programming Preparation: Engineers draw workpiece drawings and mark hole parameters via CAD software, then generate machine-recognizable G-code through CAM software, import the program into the CNC system and preset processing parameters.
Workpiece Clamping: Place workpieces such as steel plates and flanges stably on the worktable, fix them tightly by the hydraulic clamping device to avoid shaking and offset during processing, and install drill bits of corresponding specifications.
Automatic Precise Positioning: The CNC system parses program instructions, drives X and Y-axis servo motors to move the spindle, and accurately reaches the preset hole position with a positioning error within ±0.01mm.
Drilling & Cutting: The Z-axis drives the high-speed rotating spindle to feed vertically downward and cut the workpiece at the set speed. For deep hole processing, the peck drilling mode and high-pressure internal cooling system are activated to drill section by section and lift the spindle to remove chips, preventing drill bit jamming and burning. After reaching the preset depth, the spindle automatically lifts to the safe height.
Automatic Cyclic Processing: The machine automatically moves to the next hole position and repeats the positioning, drilling and resetting process until all holes are processed. Finally, the spindle returns to the origin to complete batch processing.
Key Advantages
Ultra-high Precision, Zero Manual Error: Abolish manual marking and positioning. Full digital control ensures unified hole position, aperture and depth, meeting the assembly requirements of precision workpieces.
Highly Automatic & Labor-saving: One-key automatic operation replaces manual repeated operation, greatly improving batch processing efficiency and reducing labor costs.
Strong Stability & Wide Compatibility: The heavy-duty floor-type frame is vibration-resistant and deformation-free, suitable for various heavy thick metal plates, and compatible with through holes, blind holes, stepped holes, chamfering and other processes.
Low Failure Rate & Long Service Life: Core components adopt precision servo system and wear-resistant guide rails and lead screws, matched with a complete cooling and chip removal system, ensuring stable long-term continuous operation.
Main Applications
It is widely used for precision plate drilling in steel structure engineering, bridge and iron tower manufacturing, wind power flanges, pressure vessels, heat exchanger tube sheets, construction machinery parts and sheet metal processing industries, serving as the core equipment of heavy-duty mechanical processing production lines.
